Science and Humanities

Using activities to help structure arguments, e.g. debates, presentation exercises and interviews, we will examine impartially the burning issues in science today. The course will focus on assisted death, genetic screening, nuclear power and nano technology, through a simulated court case, a play concerning a family with breast cancer and a debate. The subjects will be topical, raising current media issues but may also include: animal testing, genetic modification, global warming, genetic screening, human cloning and the use of embryonic stem cells. It can be emotive stuff, but the content will stimulate our best thinkers.
