Science and Humanities

Having designed or identified their own planet, students create a monster perfectly adapted to its environmental conditions. After creatively writing astory and script involving the monster and visiting astronauts, each student group produces a 2 minute animated video using 3D models. Schools are given a DVD of the video clips.

Course Cost: £1,499.00

Suitable for: Years 7 & 8

Location: At your school IT suite or a local City Learning Centre. One computer per maximum five students required. Working space along side computers. Special software sent in advance for local installation.

Student numbers: 30

Course length: This activity is offered in a number of different formats, from the usual two-day format to three, five and an eight day summer school.

Skills: Manual dexterity, creative thinking and writing, team work, leadership, problem solving.

Learning Outcome: Planetary environments, requirements for life, adaptations to environmental niches, evolutionary adaptation, creative writing, story development, storyboarding, video techniques, animation, video editing.
