Science and Humanities

Students undertake a simulated archaeological dig, discovering buried skeletons and artefacts in the school sand pit. They analyse the finds, build a model and carry out some investigations to make recommendations about the future development of an archaeological site.

Location: In your school, some of the activity takes place outside, in the school sand pit.

Learning Outcome: Site survey techniques and practices. Archaeology of the Bronze Age, dating methods, laboratory analysis of evidence and fabrication techniques.
